Eco Safe Menstruation – A Step Towards Healthier Menstrual Hygiene and Safer Environment

Swirling along with the twists & turns of technology, the world is congruously making efforts to bring about a balance in the environment and descend the alarming effects of global warming on the planet.

According to scientists, environmentalists and researchers several factors have been accorded to the degrading environmental balance and its terrifying effects. Plastic has been amongst the top of the charts that have been majorly responsible for its adverse effects on soil, underwater, and also in the air. As with the advent of tech & trends, plastic has found a place in the tiniest to the largest things we use, a constant awareness has been spread across the globe to reduce its usage and switch towards sustainable products for a greener & healthier planet.

To your surprise, many of our personal hygiene products are also loaded with toxic plastic, one of them is sanitary pads. The majority of the pads have over 90 % plastic, each being equivalent to four plastic bags. The plastic used therein effectively traps the moisture within, which escalates bacterial and fungal infections. This can cause inflammation in the vagina and vulva, pelvic inflammatory diseases, and in some cases, cervical cancer.

About 336 million girls and women experience menstruation in India, out of which approximately 121 million use disposable sanitary napkins. Several reports state that about 9000 ton of menstrual waste is generated in India monthly, most of it in the form of sanitary pads. One sanitary pad could take 500 to 800 years to decompose as the plastic used is non-biodegradable and can lead to severe health and environmental hazards.

There is no proper disposal system for menstrual waste in India though due to some awareness, steps are being taken in that regard.

To switch towards sustainability pertaining towards menstrual hygiene in the country, several brands have come up with products that are eco-friendly & instill good menstrual health too. Thus, paving a way for Eco-safe menstruation – a toxin-free and environment-friendly menstrual routine.

Unlike pads loaded with plastic, we at Evolve Essential offer premium acrobat cotton pads that are highly absorbent, rash & irritation-free, maintains Ph balance, non -toxic & fragrance-free and bio-degradable.
